5 Natural Energy Boosters During Pregnancy

Natural Energy Boosters During Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be such a wonderful experience for women, however each pregnancy is different and many women experience a variety of ill effects. One common complaint among many expectant mothers is the feeling of zapped energy. These women could have anywhere from a little sluggishness to total exhaustion.

The following are five natural methods that can help boost energy during pregnancy:

1. Drink plenty of water. When you are pregnant your body requires more water in order to function well. Aim for at least 8 to 10 glasses per day.

2. Eat well. Choose fresh foods and try to stay clear of anything processed. Good choices for a quick boost include fruits, eggs, oatmeal, nuts, granola mixes, yogurt, and smoothies.

3. Exercise. You may think that exercise will take what little energy you have left however that is not the case. Exercise will actually increase your energy levels by improving circulation which delivers more oxygen to your body's cells. There is no need to start any high impact exercise at this time. A short brisk walk is all that is needed.

4. Clear your mind and keep stress to a minimum. Expectant mothers often have many worries and anxieties going through their mind. This is normal as long as it doesn't interfere with mental and physical well being. Make sure to take time out of the day for yourself to relax.

5. Get adequate rest. Sleep during pregnancy may easily be disturbed due to the extra weight being carried as well as changes in hormonal levels. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night and if needed have a short nap during the day.
