7 Tips To Save You Money At The Beach

Tips To Save You Money At The Beach

It is that time of year when most of us can appreciate spending some time on a beautiful sandy beach. Going to the beach is a wonderful opportunity for relaxation, quality family time, a romantic date, or a fun time out with friends. For me it means an afternoon out with my family which I truly enjoy.

Depending on where you head to you may encounter a costly visit. The following are some money saving tips that can help cut down on costs and still allow you to have a great time.

1. Carpool with another family. If you are going to travel any great distance and you have the room to drive with two families in one vehicle then this is a great way to save money.

2. Bring a cooler filled with ice and drinks. Having to buy bottled water and other beverages can become quite expensive at the beach.

3. Pack a lunch and easily accessible snacks such as fresh fruit, crackers, and trail mix. Easily make your own trail mix using nuts, raisins, dried fruit, sunflower seeds, and dried cereals.

4. Bring reusable utensils. Don't waste money buying plastic cutlery. Just bring some of your own or purchase a cheap pack of reusable plastic cutlery from the dollar shop.

5. Bring an essentials bag. Include items such as sunscreen, lotion, Tylenol, and band aids. If you have to buy any of these at the beach you may be looking at triple the normal cost.

6. Do not enter beachfront shops. These shops have items that you most likely already have at home. They also tend to charge much more than what the items are actually worth.

7. Remember to bring some toys for the kids for free entertainment. The little plastic buckets and shovels are great and can be purchased cheaply at dollar shops. However plastic yogurt or ice cream containers and an old spoon will work fine as well.

  1. I love taking bowls and cups and whatever containers that we were going to get rid of to the beach to use as toys. So much cheaper to just use those then to keep going to the store and buying new buckets and whatnot. Great tips!

  3. I like all of these tips. When we go to the beach our only money spent usually goes to gas. everything else we bring from home.

  4. Always bring things from home where ever you go. We went to Disney and brought our own lunches. We brought our own bottles of water and refilled them at the water fountains and brought along the little packets or Mio to flavor it.
