Mahalabiya milk custard is a traditional Egyptian dessert. It is a very quick and easy recipe to make. All is needed are a few simple ingredients which you will most likely have on hand already.
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
4 and 1/8 cups full cream milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract or essence
*coconut flakes and or crushed nuts/raisins for garnishing (optional)

Method:
1. In a medium sized pot pour in 4 cups milk, sugar, and vanilla and stir bringing to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer.
2. In a small bowl add the cornstarch with the remaining milk and mix until smooth. Add to the pot and mix well.
3. Cook on medium heat for a few minutes until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in 1/8 cup of coconut flakes.
4. Garnish with coconut flakes, nuts, or raisins. Serve warm or chilled. Enjoy!
