Amazing Uses For Cucumbers

Cucumbers are a vegetable that can seem boring to eat since they have a very plain taste. Their benefits however far outweigh this boring and plain taste. Cucumbers are packed with an abundance of vital nutrients as well as healthy chemical components. Along with health benefits, cucumbers also have many other uses around the home and garden.

1. Give yourself a quick energy boost. Instead of grabbing the usual coffee or soda opt for a cucumber and get longer lasting and healthier boost of energy.

2. Hydrate skin. Cucumber is 95% water which helps keep the skin hydrated and well moisturized.

3. Frugal facial. Slice up one cucumber and place in a pot filled with water. Bring to a boil allowing the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber to mix with the steam. Remove the pot from the heat and lean over it allowing the steam to reach your face. your skin will feel more healthy and radiant.

4. Soothe puffy eyes. Cut two thick slices off a cold cucumber that has been stored in the refrigerator. Set them over closed eyes for about 15 minutes.

5. Rid bad breath. Take a slice of cucumber and press it on the roof of your mouth. Leave for a minute or two and then chew it up and swallow.

6. Quickly polish your shoes. Cucumbers contain chemicals that will produce a shine as well as repel water.

7. Surprise crayon or marker art on your walls. Remove by rubbing the outside of a cucumber over the marks.

8. Eliminate fog from the bathroom mirror after a shower. Rub a cucumber slice along the mirror.

9. Green clean faucets, sinks, and stainless steal. Simply rub a slice of cucumber over surfaces and then rinse.

10. Fix a squeaky hinge. Just rub a piece of cucumber along the hinge to rid the squeak.

11. Rescue your garden from pests. Place a few slices of cucumber in a pie plate or low sided container. Pests hate the reaction that comes from the chemicals in cucumbers. Replace every few days or as needed.
