Alternative Uses for Vinegar

Over the last few years I have been researching and reading up on how to change from using chemical products to using all natural products in our home. One product that I have tried for several jobs around our home is vinegar. I will admit at first I was a little skeptical on the idea that this product would be able to do the same job as a chemical based cleaning product. After all vinegar is a food product!

                                  Uses For Vinegar

You will find many uses for vinegar through an engine search. The following is a list of what I personally have accomplished with the use of vinegar. This is my testimony to what actually does work.

To clean around the home:

Mix equal parts of vinegar with water and a little baking soda to clean the floor and add a little shine. This recipe was also mentioned in one of my earlier posts.
Mix equal parts of vinegar and water to spray on glass mirrors and windows. Wipe with a dry cloth.
Mix equal parts of vinegar and water to clean and deodorize the fridge.
Use vinegar only to spray the bathroom including fixtures, tiles, and floors. Wipe afterward to get rid of soap scum, grime, and mildew. Pour 2 to 3 cups of pure vinegar down toilet and leave for at least 30 minutes to get rid of stains and odors.
Deodorize curtains, upholstery, and the air in the home. Just add equal parts of vinegar and water to bottle and spray. Much better than the horrible air freshener sprays on the market which are so full of chemicals and poisons.

To clean laundry:

Add 1/2 a cup to rinse cycle instead of fabric softener to give clothes a fresh smell and help keep lint away. Also safe to use on baby's clothes. Do not worry about the acid content in vinegar as it is too mild to harm clothes.

Other uses:

I have also used vinegar to clean our pet bird's cages. We have 2 cages each with 2 birds and their pans get dirty often. Just spraying some vinegar and wiping with a cloth cleans the mess easily and takes away any bad odors.

Also, I have used this to clean my baby's toys. Just mix equal parts of vinegar and water and then spray and wipe.

One other use and probably my favorite is to deter ants. Ants absolutely hate vinegar. Just spray it toward them and watch them scatter. To prevent ants from entering the home in the first place spray along window sills, door casings, near drains and any ant trails you find.

There are so many more uses for this great product as I have mentioned above.

I have come to learn that vinegar is completely safe to use and just as effective.

The best about vinegar is its cost. It is so cheap!!!

Happy cleaning everyone :)

I have found that many people are very accepting of my choice to cloth diaper and then there are others who have doubts and question why I have made this choice.

Welcome to my blog

Posted by Bismah Abdelgawad

My name is Bismah. This is my first time writing a blog. I am married to a wonderful man who provides me with the support and resources required to carry on my role as a stay at home mom. My son is 9 months old.

The purpose of creating this blog is to share my happy moments, learning experiences and useful tips. I am a mom of simple means. I enjoy having the role of chef, maid and being the main care provider for my son. My meals are mostly done from scratch. At the moment I am weaning out the use of chemical products in cleaning my home. Caring for my baby involves natural feeding, preparing homemade baby food and cloth diapering. This requires a high level of energy, lots of attention and most importantly love and affection.

Aside my daily routine I do make time for myself. Some of my hobbies are crafting, reading, and facebook. During this time I enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

That’s enough J
